Gina Piombino earned her B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Education as a scholarship student from Towson University. She continued her educational pursuits at the University of Pennsylvania whereby she earned her M.S.W. Gina's teaching career has blended dance and social work while working predominately with children and adolescents. Alternative to Violence projects, treatment of mental health issues, education of academic subjects for children with learning differences have occurred through Gina's teaching methodology. Gina has taught Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Pre-Dance, and Hip Hop at private dance schools, after school dance workshops, and summer arts camps. She was Director of Dance at Great Valley High School. She has taught extensively in the Maryland Public School system. In addition to Gina's seventeen years of teaching, her performance career includes being a member of MaryAnn Dance Co., Contempra Dance Co., Towson University's Dance Project, and making guest appearances with Maureen Fleming's Modern Dance Co. She has also appeared in numerous dance documentaries and television shows. Gina believes that her teaching method should make her students feel happy, healthy, and teach an appreciation for the art form. Gina has been teaching for ContempraDance since 2000.
