ContempraDance School offers summer dance programs for all ages.
Creative Motion Camps
Our Creative Motion Camps are designed for ages 3-11. Children will enjoy dancing, acting, singing and art set to the “theme” of the week. Art projects designed by the students will be used as props, costumes, or set designs for the end of the week show!
During snack break students will relax and watch the movie set to the week’s theme. Each camp below is $300 for the week.
The performance is on the last day of camp at noon. Please bring your own snack and drink

Workshops Ages 8 & Up
Our workshops are for ages 8 & up and are full or half days. The workshops are designed for all levels depending on the genre. Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Ballet Intensive and Dance Intensive are some of our summer workshops offerred this summer. We bring in guest artist to share their knowledge of dance with the students. The students will learn a lot and have a great experience!

Musical Theatre Workshop “Wicked”
Welcome to Shiz!
During our Wicked workshop, dancers will learn dances from the smash musical turned movie, Wicked! Dancers will learn about the musical theatre style of dance, acting and its place in dance, as well as some of the iconic choreography from the movie! We hope you join us in Dancing Through Life during our week of Wicked! Please bring a drink. Cost for the week.

Hip Hop Workshop ( 2-day workshop)
This workshop with professional Hip Hopper “Moji” explores the fundamentals of hip hop and how it has evolved. Learn various types of break dancing, as well as current styles of dance that are popular today; and everything in between. You will leave this workshop with more confidence in your level of dance, stronger social skills from interacting with your peers, and tons of great exercise as well as some break dancing. Can’t miss this one! Please bring a drink.

Dance Intensive Workshop
Our 4 day dance intensive is designed for intermediate to advanced level students. Classes will be taught in ballet, modern, jazz, African, lyrical, and funk. Our dance intensive teachers are professional dancers from the area and with ContempraDANCE Theatre’s professional company, ensuring the best dance education for the week! Teachers will be focusing on strength, flexibility, and dance movements while helping students develop their own individual dance styles. This camp is an excellent way for students to learn from professionals and enrich their dance education. Bring a bagged lunch and drink.

Ballet Intensive Workshop
Our ballet intensive workshop is designed to improve ballet technique and introduce students to a variety of elements in ballet dance. Students will work on technique and learn excerpts from various repertoire pieces. Designed for pre-intermediate and intermediate level students. Please bring a drink.

Congratulations to Ms. Daria. She has opened her own Yoga studio in Gladwyne called The Yoga Spot. She won’t be returning to Contempra this year due to this, but we wish her the best in her new endeavor!! I’m sure we will be seeing her around!
Our “LIVE IT UP” 2022 Dance Recital was a huge success Saturday June 4th. Over 600 people attended. The dancers were absolutely amazing and blew the audience away! My faculty and I were so impressed and just loved seeing smiling dancers on stage. It’s been 3 years since we had our last recital at Valley Forge Middle School. It was nice to be back.

Austin Johnson amazed the audience with his senior solo, Sound of Silence choreographed by Daria Johston. Austin has been with Contempra for over 10 years and part of the Contempra Youth Dance Company. He was recently accepted to Cornell University. We are so proud of him. Austin is not only a fantastic and gifted dancer but an incredible person. We are going to miss him so much and wish him the best!!
